ABSTRACT
A simple concrete pavement was built, built to study the stress state caused by load and temperature stresses, in environmental conditions of Portoviejo, in Ecuador. The results of the thermal variations produced through the slab are exposed on a typical day from May to June. The ambient temperature generates thermal gradients during the day, between the upper and lower part of the slab, causing warping stresses, which could cause certain deterioration. The highest temperature gradient recorded (11ºC), occurred between one and two in the afternoon, when the surface is at 39,5ºC and the bottom at 28,5ºC; while, the null temperature gradient was recorded between 10 and 11 in the morning. Using the EverFE software, the pavement structure was modeled to obtain the tension state that causes the maximum temperature gradient in the slab.
