ABSTRACT

The Diputación de Pontevedra (the provincial government) have a wide experience about incorporation of designs and measurements tending to boost road security on the roads and crossroads and to promote friendly mobility. Therefore it has been decided the elaboration of a guide which could serve of model for the development of interventions on the provincial transportation system and which would allow the progressive implementation of the use of public space and roads in order to permit the coexistence of different users in conditions of comfort, equality and security, specially for more vulnerable users. The guide is structured in three main divisions: one reflection about the criteria of the use of public space by all people; the guideline and reasons of the essential interventions; and the application of advices through the related instructions and conventions (which is developed in another article of this publication).
