ABSTRACT
In the current situation in which urban and interurban mobility are undergoing a process of servitization, public transport must evolve providing more efficiency, sustainability and with the sufficient level of benefits to compete with private mobility. In this context, it is necessary that urban and interurban public transport, particularly the buses, evolve towards an autonomous electric driving system that guarantees the previously mentioned requirements. This evolution will require undertaking pilot tests in real environments. The platforms reserved for buses have shown that in the current context they are an optimal alternative to other public and private transport systems and, in addition, due to their own characteristics they can become a testing ground that allow the evolution of public transport with buses.
