ABSTRACT

The use of waste for the construction and rehabilitation of roads is a strategy to be strengthened in order to establish relations of industrial symbiosis of a regional nature that will make businesses more competitive and reduce the environmental impact associated with their activity.

This article summarizes a series of specific examples oriented, on the one hand, to the generation of circular economy models using waste from the paper industry for the stabilization of soils, steel slag and foundry sands for the production of asphalt mixtures, or RCDs for the construction of granular sub-bases and, on the other, oriented to validate the use of materials of renewable origin for the construction of pavements of pavements (bio-polymers such as lignin for the manufacture of bitumens modified with polymers and bio-based agents). rejuvenating to improve the workability of the asphalt mixtures and increase the rates of milling material or RAP).
