ABSTRACT:

Different studies have been developed in order to quantify the influence of visibility distance on road accidents using both deterministic and probabilistic techniques. However, the studies carried out have used two-dimensional visibility distances and operating speeds obtained through prediction models in their analysis. In this research project a reliability study is presented in which the influence of the variability of the stopping visibility distance through the probability of non-compliance (Pnc) on the accident rate on roads is evaluated by means of functions of safety performance. For this, the existing geometric design of a simple two-way road belonging to the Colombian national primary network, the digital elevation model, the operating speeds measured in the field, the annual average daily traffic (TPD) and the accident rate bases were used. last six years.
