ABSTRACT:

Roads in Bogota (Colombia) have poor conditions and constant rains in the area is intended to provide a quantitative measure of the effect of "stripping" and moisture on the binding of asphalt (a) 60-70 Barrancabermeja and three aggregates ( b) stone, of which two are sandstones exploited in quarries in the region and the third is a limestone brought from Rio Coello, which are typically used in asphalt mixtures, and determine the best adhesive performance and cohesive structures through BBS test and Sessile drop method.

For asphalt-aggregate bonds different contact angles, wettability and adhesive work in wet and dry they were determined. Thus it was determined that the interaction of aggregate Alto Laguna with asphalt has better behavior under the effect of water, and increased humidity Damage Index (HDI); also it concluded that the three studied aggregates are classified as highly susceptible to damage from moisture HDI value less than 0,5; therefore it is recommended that the asphalt mixtures have a modifier that reduces the hydrophilic effect of added water.
