ABSTRACT
The Directorate General of Highways of the Community of Madrid is participating, along with other institutions and companies in the European environment, the LIFE + program and the 7 th Framework Programme of the European Union, which funded R & D + i for the promotion of Research for the promotion of new materials and new techniques that reduce the environmental impact along with achieving the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment within the Community framework. These projects involved since 2011 are:
- within the LIFE + the POLYMIX projects program: Polymer waste in asphalt mixtures: a way to increase sustainability of roads, NEW JERSEY: New generation of safety barriers with recycled materials and rubber used tires, being the latter the partner project coordinator, and
- within FP7 the APSE project: Use of more sustainable materials for a new concept of asphalt pavement construction.
