ABSTRACT
If we want tomorrow's citizens live in more pleasant and safer, less congested and greenest cities, we need to transform our cities into smart cities. This transformation can only be achieved with the help of an intelligent transport system that provides citizens with attractive and effective alternative mobility options and public or shared transportation.
ICT for mobility and transport can help save lives, shorten travel times, reduce congestion and the negative effects of urban traffic on the environment, while making the development of new public and private services possible .
Smart cities benefit from the potential of ICT not only to meet the mobility needs of its citizens but also to provide a pleasant and safe environment, effectively manage population concentration, control energy consumption, enjoy a new generation of buildings and boost the local economy.
