ABSTRACT

The roads have been the veins of the territory along the European history, paths and roads that have linked societies, economies and knowledge across the continent by never free from danger to the traveler adventures.

Located in the region of La Alcarria, initially treat the historical background to the current network, briefly analyzing the most important aspects and features of road connections in this peninsular area.

Then the new project of the highway Alcarria as part of the great ring to Madrid will be discussed, addressing the social perception to the infrastructure, characterized by reasons other than transportation needs and reflected in the provincial media.

Finally it reflects on the apparent divorce of interests between "infrastructures for the territory" or "infrastructures for the population" and whose agreement is required for the design of the infrastructure of the XXI Century.
