ABSTRACT
This paper is schematically presented the most important problems encountered in clearings of roadworks, in relation to water, considering both the problems of instability in the case of soil as in the rock. It also has distinguished the influence of nearby reservoirs on the stability of these works. In view of these characteristics, the most common procedures stabilization clearings are analyzed and special attention is paid to the phenomena that can be induced in the bottom of trenches or at the foot of clearings in collapsible and expansive grounds.
