ABSTRACT
The article develops ideas to operationalize the concept of "sustainable mobility plans" for the city, proposing guidelines and proposals for concrete actions, focusing in priority on public transportation, and also recognizing the enormous progress that must still be made in our country, compared to non-motorized mobility. These plans should focus on measures of "sustainable transport", ie that are efficient from the point of view of consumption of resources and attention to the needs of citizens, while contributing to social cohesion and local development and having finally a favorable impact on the environment. This city strategy has resulted in many cities around a Local Agenda 21, which the article presents several examples.
