Road maintenance in sub-Saharan Africa. Policies official development assistance and results

ABSTRACT
This article examines the road maintenance policies promoted by agencies of official development assistance since the late 80 in sub-Saharan Africa. The work is based on the analysis and diagnosis of the problems of road transport infrastructure in these countries, published in No. 110 of this magazine. It affects the results that these policies have yielded to 2005, especially in the case of development assistance funded by the European Union. In conclusion, the article provides a number of suggestions to increase the efficiency of international aid to road maintenance in these countries.
