ABSTRACT
This article describes the life-cycle assessment (LCA) as a tool to measure the environmental impact in the manufacturing process of hot bituminous mixtures is presented. LCA provides very precise values that allow an accurate knowledge of what is the best construction techniques from the environmental point of view at once for comparing alternative designs firm in terms of its environmental impacts.
In SORIGUÉ, SA have made a comprehensive compilation of all environmental data (consumption, emissions and waste) linked to the manufacturing process of hot bituminous mixtures and their associated sub-processes, and have developed a support methodology for calculating the environmental impacts in all phases of process from the extraction and processing of raw materials to the laying of bituminous mixtures.
