Reuse of materials and the Kyoto Protocol in road construction

ABSTRACT
This article analyzes several environmental aspects which have been developed in the study, design and construction of roads in recent years: on the one hand, reuse techniques of soil and other materials from industrial waste; and on the other hand, the new environmental conditions imposed by the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol.

Both aspects are more related than it seems. Engineering sustainable road involves considering well the conditions the environment involves the construction and subsequent operation of the road from the views of the building itself, the materials used and users by driving through them, once put into service .

Treatments and soil stabilization have led to greatly reduce the conditions the environment allowing the reuse of soil trace, whatever are their properties, and also allowed reused in the construction of waste road of industrial processes and "reconstruction".

And secondly Finally, the Kyoto Protocol has introduced new variables in the environmental analysis of any human activity not yet adequately considered in road engineering. In this article we focus on what seem to be more important, but not limited to: the reuse of materials and hot mix asphalt.
