ABSTRACT
The use of bicycles as means of transport in Spain has increased significantly in the last decade. However, there is a lack of common rules applicable to the design of cycle routes in the country until 2009. Only in the Community of Madrid, Catalonia and the province of Guipuzcoa manuals and / or recommendations specific design of this type of infrastructure there.

For the writing of this article we have been analyzed in depth the aforementioned publications, along with the Manual of recommendations bike path, published by the Directorate General of Traffic.

In the same comparison of the determinants plot in cycling tracks it is performed. First, the layout plan is studied by analyzing design speeds and radii of gyration. the longitudinal slope, vertical agreements and cross slope: then the layout design parameters are studied elevation.

Finally another key element to ensure the safety and comfort of users of cycle paths determining factor is analyzed, as is visibility.
