ABSTRACT
Within this article the methodology, calculations, results and conclusions obtained in the study of the Strategic Noise Maps (MER) of those roads is presented which traffic flow is more than 6 million vehicles a year, approved by the resolution 23 2009 December the Ministry of Public Works, Planning, Housing and Urban Development, and develop within the scope of the Regional Road Network of Cantabria.

Logically thinking, these "road arteries" are mainly located in the vicinity of the most developed nuclei from a population and industrial view of the region, a fact that generates a significant increase in the number of vehicles passing through these roads daily, not to mention another key factor as tourism and in summer times also produces a great pressure on the road network, especially on those closest to the coast areas. Thus, with reference to the Plan Gauging the Regional Road Network of Cantabria, according to the 37 / 2003 Noise Act, the realization of the Strategic Noise Maps has been conducted on a total of five roads: CA- 231-1, Santander-Liencres-Puente Arce; CA-140-1 and 2, Muriedas-El Astillero; CA-130-1 and 2, Triggerfish-El Empalme-Peñacastillo; CA-131-1, Barreda-La Revilla and CA-132-1 and 2, Viveda-Suances, specifically following all the aspects provided in Royal Decree 1513 / 2005 concerning the assessment and management of environmental noise.

The results of population condition thrown by the study, in hundreds, comprising a total of 64 for levels of 55-59 dBA, 40 for those of 60-64 dBA, 28 to 65-69 dBA, 18 to 70-74 dBA 7 75 to exceed the values dBA, all related to the rate of overall annoyance (Lthe material moisture meter shows you the ). If these results are associated with the total population of Cantabria, in any case 1,10% is exceeded, the largest area of condition (isophone Lthe material moisture meter shows you the > 55 dBA) less than 4,5 km2.
