Some pay taxes and others receive subsidies
- April 05 2013
Speaking on the 4 April, Cadena Ser, the Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, said emphatically: "Every citizen pays € 432 every time someone gets on the train". Demonstrations with which the head of the Ministry of Public Works constataba heavy losses incurred by the Spanish high speed.
By contrast, a journey of 500 kilometers by road involves the payment of € 98 in taxes, of which, in the most optimistic scenario which, unfortunately, is not currently, only the 9% reverts to infrastructure itself in maintenance and conservation.
With these two figures on the table, we attended with extreme concern the finding of an unprecedented deterioration of our roads, exacerbated by snowstorms and rain we have been experiencing in recent months.
It is urgent that the wisdom in transport policy is imposed.
