the Board of Directors of Roads and Provincial Councils Autonomous Communities meets in Barcelona

With the words of welcome from Councillor for Planning and Mobility of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Santi Vila (center of image), was started in the morning today, Thursday 4 April, the first meeting of the year 2013 Bureau Directors General of Highways Autonomous Communities and Provincial Councils, which took place in Barcelona.

The Director General of Highways of the Generalitat, Xavier Flores, presided over the meeting, which analyzed the recommendations to reduce the consequences of the accident by exit road, a document developed by the group of "Road Safety" working within this forum.

The Safety of road infrastructures has also focused on other matters on the agenda of this meeting, such as the procedures for identification, management and monitoring of Sections of Accident Concentration and the situation of the different comprehensive Safety plans of the different Autonomous Communities and Provincial Councils.

The Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Roads of the Ministry of Public Works have also participated in the meeting, represented by the Deputy Director General of Traffic Management and Mobility DGT, Federico Fernández, and the General Directors of Roads and Technical Department, Jorge and Jose Luis Elvira Urecho respectively. With them, the heads of road management in the regions of Andalusia, Álava, Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja and Madrid have also discussed about the condition of networks under their jurisdiction and they have reviewed winter maintenance actions being carried out this year.

Coordinated by the Spanish Road Association (AEC), the Board of General Directors of Roads of Autonomous Communities and Provincial Councils was born in 1997 to join forces and exchange experiences among all the competent administrations in road matters in favor of a continuous improvement of the road infrastructures of the country.
