AN ITEM THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE WELFARE STATE HIGHWAY TO WINNER OF THE THIRD EDITION

Two other works, published in the journal Autoclub and Freeway Online, receive two separate Accésit

Madrid, February 2002.- "The friend road and its contribution to the welfare state" is the title of the work awarded with the "Road" Periodismo'2001 Award of the Spanish Road Association (AEC), in the category ' media Writings'. The author of this report, published in the journal Cimbra in its issue of March-April of 2001, corresponding to Faustino Merchan.

The decision was adopted at a meeting on February 6 at the headquarters of the Spanish Road Association.

The jury, chaired by the President of the ACS also Victor Montes, is composed: Javier Belderrain, specializing in the field of Public Works Road and journalist; José Ramón Borredá, Director of Automobile Magazine; Francisco del Brio, Section Chief of ABC Motor Editor; Alejandro Fernández Pombo, President of the Press Association of Madrid; Jose Maria Menendez, Deputy Director of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Castilla-La Mancha; José María Torre Cervigón, Secretary General of the Federation of Press Associations of Spain; Vicente Romero, Head of Roads, Works and Infrastructure of the Provincial de Ciudad Real; Jesus Soria, Director of Traffic Magazine; and Luis Togores, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Universidad San Pablo CEU.

Jury members argued its opinion supporting it in both aspects of content and quality of journalistic technique. In his view, the selected work responds perfectly to the spirit that pursues this award, since it represents an important contribution to the promotion of the road as a development of peoples, and as an exponent of freedom of mobility of its citizens.

The radio script "Thirteen minutes to save your life" presented in competition by Aurora Lozano, a journalism student at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, won first prize in the category 'Students'.

Due to the overall quality of the contributions that have chosen the third edition of these awards, the jury proposed award two consolation prize, in the category 'Media Writings', to the work "European examination Highway. Europe, a new project road safety ", published by Jesus Monclús in the journal Autoclub in May 2001, and" road tunnels, underground fear, "appeared the 26 2001 October in Online highway with the signing of David Varona.

The awards ceremony will be held on March 6 day, at 12 hours in a ceremony in which members of the jury and the winners will be present, and the few who are invited media wishing to attend.
