Carlos Muñoz-Repiso, Gold Medal of the Road

The European Investment Bank, International Medal

Madrid, October 22 2002.- The Director General of Traffic, Carlos Muñoz-Repiso, has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Road, the highest award given by the Spanish Road Association (AEC). With this Medal, the ACS has been expressing since 1966, its highest recognition to individuals and institutions that are striving, or personal or professional, to improve the roads of our country.

Serving the DGT thirty years, Carlos Muñoz-Repiso holds DG since 1996. In all that time has passed by Cabinet Outreach and driver training, he has participated in various essays, projects and modifications to the Highway Code and related legislation, was responsible for the Assistance Services Automovilista and Monitoring in Road ...

At 61 years, the Law graduate, lover of literature and sport, has always maintained and kept that education is the key to improving road safety. And the numbers seem to agree, as perhaps the greatest driver awareness has meant that, during the months of July and August, deaths in road accidents have fallen by 5'5%, thus reaffirming the trend low experienced since 2001.

The EIB, International Medal

For its part, the European Investment Bank (EIB) is the body in which was awarded the Medal of Honor of the road in their international status.

At present, the EIB contributes to numerous road projects that are underway in our country, offering a financing which, in many cases, is decisive for execution. That is why the ACS could not help but recognize this interest and concern, distinguishing the European financial institution with the International Medal, an award he picked his Vice President, Isabel Martin Castella, from the hands of Victor Montes, President of the Spanish Association road.

Moreover, besides these two major awards, three people have received the corresponding more medals Road with honors. This is the case of Jose Antonio Busto Villa, Commercial Director of Proas-Cepsa; Rafael Lopez Guarga, Head of Planning, Projects and Works Demarcation of Roads of Aragon, and Rafael Llano de la Concha, Director of Roads and Works of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra.
