Technical innovations in road construction: The machinery and legislation

The Minister of Public Works of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha, Alejandro Gil, chaired the opening ceremony of this conference, organized by the Spanish Road Association

Madrid, November 6 2002.- Today Wednesday at 09,00 hours, they start at the Hotel Beatriz Toledo (Ctra De Avila, Km 2,750..) The Conference on Technical Innovations in Road Construction: The Machinery and Legislation.

The opening ceremony will be chaired by Alejandro Gil, Minister of Public Works of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha, accompanied by the Director General of the Spanish Road Association (AEC), Aniceto Zaragoza, and the Rapporteur General of the meeting, the Technical Mining Engineer and Product Manager of the company Finanzauto, Roberto Garcia Ovejero.

Three working sessions and seventeen papers form the technical and scientific cast of this conference, which will analyze the different aspects that affect one of the most important elements involved in road construction: Machinery.

In this sense, the more than 130 technicians who will give appointment until next Friday in the city of Toledo will discuss the current market trends and techniques of machines for earthwork and tunnel boring machines, with special attention to legislation in safety, health and environment. It also will address the latest innovations in the manufacture and application of firm (asphalt mixes, hot recycling of asphalt, laying and compaction, machinery for soil stabilization and treated bases and machinery mixtures for pavements concrete).

In the specific field of legislation, full session to models of health and safety management in the Spanish construction under the Law on Occupational Health and Safety work is dedicated. Thus, it will study the legal responsibilities in the prevention of occupational hazards of the agents involved in the execution of construction works, analyzing in depth the factors relevant to the evaluation and external control safety and health (Audits prevention of occupational risks), all from the perspective of large companies, SMEs and Public Administration.

The Spanish Road Association (AEC) is responsible for organizing this conference, which are sponsored by the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha and the company Finanzauto.

Speakers include Francisco Ballester, Professor of Construction Engineering at the University of Cantabria; Antonio Requena, Member of the 115th Committee for the Standardization of Earth Moving Machinery; Francisco Castellanos, Head of Contracting of Land Movements and Dredging, Works and Projects; Carlos López, General Director of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Community of Madrid; Francisco Carrillo, Head of Large Equipment and Mining at Finanzauto; Juan Antonio Muro, Director of Machinery at FCC Construcción; José Mª Navarro, Director of the Methods Department of FCC Construcción; Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo, Professor of Transport Engineering and Infrastructure at the University of Burgos; Juan José Potti, Director of Technology at Probisa, Technology and Construction; José Quereda, General Director of IECA Centro; Gregorio Nieto, Director of Prevention of the OHL Group; Ángel Luis Sánchez, Deputy Director General of Coordination and Institutional Relations of the General Directorate of Labor Inspection and Social Security of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs; José Ángel Fernando, PREMAP Prevention Director; Andrés González, Doloitte & Touche's Occupational Risk Prevention Audit Manager, and Eladio Lanzas, General Security Counselor of the Ministry of Public Works.
