From this point, the Expert Committee begins the second phase of its work, which will also take place between January and June 2003, which is conducting the impact tests to reproduce full-scale injuries suffered by a motorist to colliding with a safety barrier or guardrail after an accident.

The purpose of these trials, on which there is already some experience in other countries (France, for example), is to determine the minimum levels of containment must submit the device to protect the security barrier to ensure that the shock of a motorist against them will not result in any case, serious injury, always reflecting the worst situation that might arise in reality.

Its results will feed into the report UNE and will be covered, as on the back Standard, a standard whose production participated the Directorate General of Roads of the Ministry of Public Works, the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorates of Roads of the Autonomous Communities and Provincial Councils, and which it may be also referred to in the technical specifications of any administration with expertise in road management.

The second part describes the one hand, the peculiarities of the releases to be made in the tests: trajectories, speeds, angles, points of impact and position of the dummies at the time of the collision; and on the other hand, the required levels of protection to the protective devices for placement in the safety barriers or guardrails to be considered suitable.
