2000. Intelligent roads

It's been a century since the first motor vehicles stepped on the Spanish roads. The landscape is now dominated by technology, invades roads and cars. The cars have computers capable of making the right course and intelligence systems to a more comfortable and safe driving, provided they are used correctly. The roads are filled with variable information panels that provide real-time data about their status; and on motorways, it is possible to pay tolls without stopping.

And these are just some of the many advances that thanks to computers and new technologies have been achieved. Research walking towards what seems impossible: collision avoidance systems, which detect if a vehicle is too close in front, or to alert the driver if it exceeds the speed limit, or those able to detect if the driver is in perfect state to drive: drowsiness, drug abuse or alcohol ...

Variable message panels, which can already be seen in many of our roads, improve traveler information en route, making driving safer.
