1997. The new infrastructure plans

The February 25 1997 the first phase of the Turnpike, which provides performances in over 440 kilometers of track and an initial investment of 256.000 million pesetas without considering the costs of expropriations is presented. Among the works to be performed include the León-Astorga Expressway, Alicante-Cartagena, the Costa del Sol and Madrid-Guadalajara, currently under construction.

Later, in the ambitious and Infrastructure Plan 2000-2007 presented by the next Minister, Francisco Alvarez Cascos, the second phase of the Turnpike, for which 671.500 million budgeted is made.

Taking into account all the high capacity network, the claim of the Government is to expand the network by almost 5.000 kilometers to reach 13.000, and spend on the 2000-2006 period, motorways, 4,2 billion pesetas, which they will become 6,6 2010 trillion late.

In total, the investment planned for the Infrastructure Plan 2000-2007With a budget execution horizon until 2010, it amounts to more than 19 billion pesetas.
