Course on "Study, Design and Control of Bituminous Mixtures"

Course on "Study, Design and Control of Bituminous Mixtures"PRESENTATION

Bituminous mixtures are one of the components that the greatest impact on the behavior of the firm of our roads. It is a complex and versatile material that the same can be used as a layer of porous rolling, to enhance the comfort and safety of movement of vehicles, which as mixtures of high modulus, to increase the bearing capacity of the layers of bituminous base, and there is a wide variation in types of mixtures according to their application and use. The draft these mixtures must be carried out, therefore, in relation to the desired properties. This has led to the use of new types of tests and assessment procedures mixtures and bituminous materials, such as those developed in the SHRP program (Strategic Highway Research Program) of the United States of America, or those set by the Laboratory of Roads Cántabro (UCL method BTD tests) that are employed on the project and design of these mixtures and have been collected in the Spanish regulations (UNE, NLT) and European (CEN). During all these procedures and tests and its application to design and CE marking of the different types of mixtures used on our roads are presented from porous mixture until hot recycled mixtures plant.

The course mainly taught by professors from the Department of Transport and Planning, has a formative character, with theoretical and practical and is aimed at technicians and specialists related to employment, manufacturing and testing of bituminous materials.
