II InterCISEV Congress

II InterCISEV Congress
Leadership and best practices for the safety of all
Sevilla, 2 to 4 October 2017

Near the end of the 2011-2020 Decade of Action for Road Safety, there is no doubt about the importance of proper institutionalization of the 1 "Road Safety Management" pillar to reduce the number and severity of road traffic accidents in countries Of Ibero-Latin America; Under this pillar, actions ranging from the creation of a coordinating agency for road safety and the definition of comprehensive strategies at national and local level, to guaranteeing adequate financing, monitoring of performance indicators, etc. are included.

The Declaration of Santiago, formulated in the V Ibero-American Road Safety Congress (CISEV) in November of 2016, referred to the impossibility of achieving the goal of reducing the 50% of fatalities during the decade 2011-2020, by what is necessary to continue working, assuming that the measures adopted to date have been insufficient. The Declaration urged the governments of the countries to urgently adopt a Plan of Action for the prioritization and subsequent implementation of a set of measures and good practices that have proven effective, With the aim of achieving significant reductions in road and street accidents in the Region in the 2017-2020 period.

The 1 Pillar "Road Safety Management" is, if at all, the most important in approaching the goals of the Decade. Under the umbrella of this pillar are included all the policies, in different areas, that will allow improvements in other pillars (safer routes, safer users, safer vehicles and after-accident assistance) to achieve the number reduction challenge And the severity of accidents associated with traffic.

This is precisely the scope of work that will focus the second edition of the InterCISEV Congress, which is held in alternate years to the Ibero-American Road Safety Congresses (CISEV); After a first edition in Madrid in June of 2015, focused on training, education and road training, this time Seville hosts the second, to be held in October 2017, organized jointly by the Iberian-American Road Institute (IVIA) and the Directorate General of Traffic of the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of Spain. It also has the institutional support of ICEX España, Exportación e Inversiones, under whose umbrella the Spanish Road Association (AEC) - collaborative entity - organizes an Inverse Mission under which prescribers and authorities from various Latin American countries will be able to know And deepen the parameters, tools and technologies that have led to the success of road safety policies in Spain.
