European Charter for road users
The European Road Safety Charter is one of the main initiatives of the European Commission for reducing the number of road deaths. With this tool, the European body is proposed that a community of citizens who commit formally to undertake concrete actions to promote road safety actions.
The text of the Charter contains, in 12 articles, those rights of users of road infrastructure to be safeguarded in the entire European space.
The Spanish Road Association, having endorsed this document, leading with the ADA, circulated among Spanish institutions. Through this joint effort, it was achieved in 2006 the parliamentary group in Congress to submit a non-legislative proposal in which the Government is urged to take this Charter, and to incorporate the rights therein to all policies referred to are in place.
